What oil for the other bits?

Hi, having asked you guys what oil for engine I have now decided to change all oils front to back.
What oil is best for:
Gear box
Transfer
Axles

Also I have slight pitting to my swivel cups and was told to do away with oil and use one shot grease packs...is there an applicator tool for these?

get yourself one of these LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 1 - Haynes Workshop Manual 1989 to 1998 (DA3036) | eBay and make sure you know where the main gearbox fill point is and that you have something to get the oil back in before draining it. the book of lies will tell you the correct oils and the quantity aswell

Gearbox should have ATF to spec MTC233 or thereabouts, transfer box and axles all take EP80/90. Oil or one shot grease are good in the swivels but it's up to you. Personally I prefer oil as you can clearly see if you have a leak and can check the level whereas you can't with grease but they're much the same. The one shot comes in a tube that's supposed to be designed to put straight into the swivel

Hi thanks mine is landrover defender 90 manual and I have all relevant Haynes...will check again! Thanks

Would this be the correct oil? Not sure about that quality standard code...if u get a chance could you give me a link to correct product...cheers rob

Not sure on the Dexron 3 thing but the spec I meant should have read M2C33. ATF Dexron 2 is used for power steering fluid

So I guess this would be the one then ;-) ?

When u say something to put it in with...what do you mean ? Sorry to ask such a stupid question but that's exactly the sort of lame oversight I'd make ;-)

It's ok I found correct gearbox oil and after watching a video on YouTube know the correct application tool...great stuff!! I know what I'm doing nxt Saturday ;-)

Bought one of them sealey oil pumps biggest load of rubbish I ever bought leaked oil everywhere.
Just modified a garden pressure sprayer by removing spray head and cutting tip below it off then fitted hose over end.
Pump it up insert hose in gearbox pull trigger and away oil flows.
This sort of pump HOZELOCK 4122 1.25L SPRAYMIST PRESSURE GARDEN SPRAYER | eBay
