What oil 5w/40 or 10/w40

Engine oil
Use a 0W/30, 0W/40, 5W/30 or 5W/40 oil
meeting API service level SJ/CD, EC11 and
having a viscosity band recommended for the
temperature range of your locality.

NOTE: Use only synthetic oils.

0W/30 will protect from -22ºF (-30ºC) to 95ºF (35ºC).
0W/40 will protect from -22ºF (-30ºC) to 122ºF (50ºC).
5W/30 will protect from -22ºF (-30ºC) to 95ºF (35ºC).
5W/40 will protect from -22ºF (-30ºC) to 122ºF (50ºC).

Eightinavee already posted that info Tony.
0w30/0w40 gives a noticable improvement in fuel economy but is too expensive to be viable.

Didn't see that Keith. Have been working outside cladding dormer so only on here now and again. So am not reading all the way through threads. The fully synthetic oil bit is to cover the extended service periods. Once again cheaper oil changed more often would just be as good.

True, but I like belt and braces, full synthetic and frequent changes and there is an MPG benefit:D

At maybe £80.00 + for a frequent change against maybe £25.00 for a frequent change there would have to be a significant fuel saving. :)
