well hello

i have a 1990 127 that is fitted with half a dead 19J, (cracked head) LT77 gearbox and salisbury rear diff, i guess they were fitted to late 109's due to the fact that they spent most of their lives in 2wd, however what is the point of that diff in a vehicle that is permanent 4wd? if drive is split front and rear surely the front should be a salisbury too or the rear diff a standard one? it is my intention to fit running gear from an early 300 tdi disco, inc an auto box and 24 spline diffs, i understand i will have to lengthen the rear prop to meet the standard diff? anyone done this before? any pitfalls i should know about/consider  ? thank you!

My 1990 110 has a salisbury rear axle, pretty sure it's a standard fitment on the 110/127/130. Supposedly it's for the heavier load carrying and towing capability of those models.
