OK, I need two new tyres for the front of my RRC and can’t decide between:

Kumho Road Venture A/T KL78 (£83 each, fitted)
Kumho Road Venture M/T KL71 (£98 each, fitted)
Yokohama Geolander A/T G012 (£91 each, fitted)
Goodyear Wrangler AT/S (£106 each, fitted)

All are 205/80/16’s. I have some Avon Rangers on the rear axle, so I think the Kumho M/T will be too mismatched for the front. I am leaning towards the Yokohama Geolander’s, but any experiences with any of these would be appreciated.

I already have one Geolander on the front in good condition, which I will put on the spare wheel, so they will match. The other front tyre is a different size Michelin (215/80), hence why I want to change them asap so they’re all the same size!

Use is road use (inc towing), winter driving (and rescue/recovery work) and also some greenlaning, maybe the odd pay & play day but nothing too serious.

I`d go for the Wranglers - and if you shop around they might come out a bit cheaper. My first Classic ran Avons and my Lse ran Wranglers, and they did not feel noticeably different until it got tricky, when I thought the Wranglers came into their own and were excellent. They also seemed to be very tough in the sidewall
Local-ish to you I`d try Mark Smith in Bicester and Harris Mayes in Ricky to see if they can beat the price or indeed have any other ideas - Peter Harris Mayes is good at giving an opinion based on what will run best with what you already have, and no I`m not on commission. He might be good for some of the rest of your expedition prep as well.

My brother has Kumho Road Venture A/Ts on his little (lifted) Sporttrak, you wouldn't believe some of the off-road antics he gets away with. Situations where I would have put money on him getting stranded without full mud tyres. I know it's a small light car but the tyres perform really well off-road.
