Hi All,
New to the forum so be nice, this time.
Have recently sold my Defender and part of the deal was a Freelander V6 2001 plate, yes I have been reading the posts about the problems the V6 has, but it was a tidy one with low mileage. I have discovered a few niggles but the one I am having trouble solving is the fluctuating temp gauge. It rises quite slowly and then hangs around the bottom half about a quarter, if I stop and switch back on after a 20 minute run it then rises mid way straight away but can then drop back down to barely registering, and then go back up and down. There does not appear to be a water leak problem, minimal usage. Heater seems constant wherever the gauge is.
Having read the forum and the head gasket problems associated with the V6 that was my first suspicion, but cant find anything else to back that up, so its either that, faulty thermostat or sensor, or something else.
Anyone else had this problem or anyone know where the fault lays
