Water leak... Rear corners 110

Not sure on the correct terminology here but will give it a try. Just a bought a 110 2 door '07 - absolutely amazing but a little tired in places. One particular place is rust on the rear corners between the pick up bed and van sides. Between the two panels appears to be a flimsy bit of foam ( not sure if that is factory standard). In the corner, where the water leaks down from the roof it collects there and on the inside the rust on the top is pretty bad. Nothing that won't last for a couple of years before I get the whole thing resprayed and can replace them.

But, in the meantime, would like to stop if I can the water seeping through that point inside as I want to line the inside with ply.

See attached photo where you can see that it has been sprayed to cover the worse of the damage by the previous owner.

And ideas welcome...

I am presuming (and we know what the mother that is) it comes from the top as there is a hole there to allow water to drain. See picture.
 
Water may be going into the drain hole then tracking into the top of the roof.check tightness of the roof bolts.

also the sides can be tightened up a fraction. But not too much as it may affect the visual line

and yes the foam is a bit crappy
 
Those sides don't look as if they're tightened up enough. Have a look in the corner and you'll see two 13mm nuts (one on top, one underneath) tighten those up and it'll pull the side down into the tub. The foam is ****e but it generally works well enough to keep water out

I chased this problem for ages before finally tracking it down , the problem area turned out to be inside the gutter itself .I used sikaflex inside the gutter all round . jump on a stool, crate, stepladder, and you will see where the roof panel is pressed onto the gutter, the leak was at this seam .
I sealed under the gutter and along where the sides meets the tubs ,also tightened the roof and sides down ,made no difference but done no harm anyway. So my advice is after you tried all what I tried first look at sealing inside the gutter .It certainly sorted my problem out and i now have a perfectly dry rear interior. Can't say the same for the cabin area but working on that too. good luck with chasing after that leak.
 
Thanks both... Will try those and let you know how it goes. Its obviously been bad for a long time because there is a lot of rust on the inside ...
 
I’m trying to stop the same issue at the moment. Fortunately I have all the roof lining and side panels out to aid the investigation. In my case I think the foam seal (midline) has dried up and is letting in water. I have in the past found water in the top channel that runs from the safari window so it might actually be coming through that seal.
 
Tried to tighten the nuts today, lower one was fine. The top is rusted tight and won't budge a mm...any tips on sorting the next problem...?
