My power steering pump is shot.i need to get pulley off.how do i stop it from spinning.and how do i remove the viscous fan

With the serpentine belt still on, put a spanner down the back of the viscous fan (a thin plummbers spanner does it, 22mm) and give it a belt with a hammer, remember to knock it clockwise it's a left hand thread.

Then with the belt still on use a ratchet on the pulley bolts, I've always had luck with a ratchet then just give it a hard bump with your hand should break it. If not you may need to counter hold the pulley a bit, sometimes something as simple as something jammed between the belt and pulley is enough to lock it up. Or carefully get a something onto pulley to jam it if it's really stuck.

Quick hint for you. If you undo the bolt with the ratchet going ACROSS the pulley, the level of torque you apply to the pulley is very much less than if its pointing out. Try it and you will see :D
