Hi all

Noticed today a vibration from the front. It goes away as soon as i hit the clutch and feels like a really bad wheel wobble.
Any ideas?

Thanks folks

Funnily enough it could be a misfire in the engine - is it diesel or petrol? Does it get worse if you are climbing a hill in a high gear and flooring the accelerator under load?

it happened a few weeks ago for a few secs, went away and it came back for the last 3 miles of y journey.went out for a spin and its gone again.its a 2003 td4.it happens in high gear and as soon as i press the clutch it goes,i leave up the clutch it comes back.i'v egot a lumpy idle too recently.boucning up and down around the 750 mark.

Sounds engine to me - just had a problem on mine - injector flange broke allowing the injector to lift a bit and so misfire a little - felt like wheels out of balance until off load (clutch in!) then went.

really?its that bad?any idea whats causing it?where did this come from all of a sudden?

thing is it doesnt lose power at all when i get the vibration.wouldnt a misfire kill the power?it still accelerates away and holds speed even up hill

Yes you may be right. Open the bonnet and withbthe engine running have a look and listen.

is it a diesel or petrol?

I'm not saying it's bad....it's just better to find out what the problem is before it gets any worse.
One of the guys on here should be able to help you though.
It's just that you say it makes the handling feel all funny which you would'nt of thought would happen if it was an injector fault although a failing injector can make it sound like a bucket of nails.
When you dip the clutch have you tried reving the engine to see if the noise is still there

its a diesel.all i hear from it on idle is it bouncing up and down a bit.its not the handling thats affected its just massive vibrations and when i dip the clutch its gone.i dunno is it the connector for the fuel rail?

With it ticking over go to each injector in turn and take the plug off - if it stalls or runs rougher then that injector is of - if it makes no difference when one is unplugged then you have found the problem.

It's a no cost test to eliminate something at least,
