For summer use they will run on a mix of veg oil and diesel just fine. However, in the longer term, you can damage the seals in your injection pump. Plus the veggy oil does tend to gum up.

If the pump is known to have been rebuilt, using viton seals then you should be ok as the viton is far more resistant to hardening.

Most diesel injection specialists advise against it, but if your ok with potentially having to rebuild your pump and or injectors in a year or two, then go for it. I know of people who have run on veggy oil/diesel for a good few years and got away with it.

To be honest, veggy oil has rocketed in price and isn't much cheaper than diesel now. You could try filtering used oil, but I don't know anyone who's done that. Have you considered using bio diesel at all? thats quite a bit cheaper than derv.
