Vacuum pump what is it

Hi everyone I'm stripping down a 3.9 v8 and doing away with lots of parts and I've come accross a part tucked under the passenger side wing by the headlight and the manual said its a vacuum pump can anyone tell me what it does. Thanks

you stick it over the end of your Johnson and pump like mad and it is supposed to make you more attractive to the ladies
