v8 upgrade

Hello all

I am new to the forum so here goes . I have fully restored a series 3 1976. I put a 3.5 v8 fron a rover sdi in it su carbs . It has started to show its again . i got it for 100 pounds years ago and it has done me well. I have no idea how many miles or any thing it has done.

I has started to run at low oil pressure . it starting to sound a bit noise . the left hand head i think so . i think its time for action.

i was think of geting a 3,5 injection or 3.9 injection? . What is the work like. is it a majporly complicated ecu system?

Reason for injection is that herd they are a bit better and bit more modern and also has seen few people with them and do it for fun put a turbo on it.

We all love our landy to be head turners dont we.

niiiiice lump choice the SD1, dont change it for some poxy unit like every other landy they all the v8's have the non SD1 unit, i say as a land rover for fun mechanic and competor leave the engine you've got and have her fixed though exspensive you can after sell her for biiiig bux my dad just sold his bag of ****e v8 but SD1 no mot rotten chassis and a bulkhead with more holes than a herd of 60 donkeys asse'ss but £2,900 is what he got oh and the lump was siezed, i say keep restore to high specification, get a normal v8 to place into it whilst the SD1 unit is rebuilt then burn the normal for te red carpeted SD1 to be placed home i say and anybody here if they have any idea like we do will say make way make way for the SD1 to be placed back to her loyal royal loving thrashing home good luck bud pleeeaaase send a photo to the forum ohhh and a silky non used KLLEEEEEEENNNEEX

The 3.9i engine is not that difficult to fit in place of 3.5 , just means running a few wires to the ecu . you will need a speed transducer in the speedo cable , so the ecu knows when you are not moving for fueling reasons You can use your existing exhausts.
the front end is different so water pump is positioned different, not a problem if you are running lecky fan. You will need a high pressure fuel pump .
i dont know what sort of mileage you are doing but I would be looking at a tdi rather than a V8 , they are quite powerful enough for a series . JMHO
