Hi all

The tyres on my 93 RRC are 205/80R16 on original alloys.

I'd like to buy some 235/85/R16 to go on the vehicle - but looking around on the net people say 235/70/R16 are the biggest that will fit on a standard suspension vehicle.

Is that correct or could I get away with the 85s without modification?

Cheers
Will

Hi Will - ehat you have read is correct. I have 235/70/16's on my RRC and they fit great, sligh rubbing on full lock but that is because they are fairly chunky and have knobbly shoulders.

I tried to fit my friends wheels on the car - same tyres off of his Disco 1, in a 235/80/16 fitment - and there is no way they were fitting. You would need to trim front and rear arches and they would still rub on full lock.

Why do you want tyres that big anyway? This will tell you everything you need to know: Range Rover Classic Tire Choices

Nice one - thanks very much Mike.

I have no good reason to fit 85's to the Rangie - other than I've seen a good deal on a set of 4.

But not to worry - I will look out for some 70s and fit those.

Thanks again
Will
