1. Valve clearances. 20 minutes to a sweeter sounding engine. Probably the best-spent time so-far on this vehicle from a pure satisfaction point of view.

2. Swivel seal. The seal itself was nice to do - no more dripping (well, from there anyway!) - but with the correct swivel pin pre-load she steers smooth like a baby's bottom on the highway. Probably not the best metaphor, that, but you get the idea. Very satisfying.

Lesson learned on the swivel seal (and here is the only useful thing in this post): the chrome swivels were replaced with a teflon set intended for a Defender (available here, unlike anything to do with a Disco). It must have seemed ok because the swivels themselves are the same size, but the oil seal that's supposed to keep the swivel grease and the diff oil apart is not the same, and so there was just a nasty mixed-up mess in there. Probably only interesting if you're in North Africa, where Defender parts are plentiful and Disco parts are about as common as snowballs.
