Hi all
I am looking to change vent filter on my 2005 Freelander facelift TD4. In the Haynes manual " The vent filter is located in the right hand rear corner of the engine block. Release the filter hose from the retaining clip, then pull the hoses from the filter. It sounds so simple. So I stand at front of my car and look RIGHT hand corner of the engine nothing there? Has Haynes got it incorrect. The Degree of difficuty is one spanner it says novice with little experience. Its got me scratching my head. Please could someone point me to the right place to start looking.

Sorry Title should read Turbocharger control solenoid valve vent filter renawel. Finger trouble.

The filter is located there but right hand side refers to the position from the drivers seat looking forward.

Stand at the O/S/F wheel and peer at the rear of the engine block - you should see the little clear plastic funnel shaped filter hanging down!

One end vents to air so there is only one tube on it.

Thanks rustymark
Just been out to have a look yes small clear funnel shaped filter with only one pipe on it as you said. Many thanks again for your help I never would have found it without your help.

You're more than welcome - glad to help!

If you're servicing yourself make sure you do a search on here for crankcase filter as its not in the service schedule but will cost ya big time if its not changed!

Hi Rustymark
Yes I am ging to have a go at servicing myself there,s nothing in the Haynes manual about crankcase filter on my model or where it is. I have a TD4 SE 2005 1951cc I think its got a BMW Engine but no BMW signs stamped on rocker box or any where. I have just read the Haynes manual again can find nothing on crankcase filter can you help please.
