Hi all, I recently changed the transfer & gearbox and in the process the Disco was standing for a month..ish.

Have been driving her for a couple of days now, then yesterday there was a loud screech from the turbo and she lost power quite badly. Had our mechanic check the hoses & turbo but he can't find anything wrong, reckons it happened because she had been standing for a while and the turbo was clogged up.

Has anyone got any suggestion's as to what might have caused it?

Thanks

Right then so after the hose's were checked she was still running like a dog, so I finally got time to double check the hose's and found a split:eek: at least an inch long in the longer hose (so that explains the loss of oomph, whooshing noise and black smoke from exhaust, according to other freds on ere)

Am I right in thinking there are only 3 hose's, not 4 as someone I know is adament about?

And does anyone have any links were I can order them as I can only find silicone hose's on Paddocks:eek: and don't wanna shell out that much (EGR not blanked off..yet btw)

Tnx.

3 pipes, intake, intercooler bottom, intercooler top.

Unless he means the little vacuum pipe that goes to the injection pump.

Blank off the egr... took me about 15 mins. I put a disco engine into my 90, but i used a piece of the disco tow bracket which i cut out, drilled and bolted on. I then used a piece of exhaust pipe (new piece) to make a new hose with no EGR bit on it.

Which pipe has split? With mine, most of the pipe was metal, so the flexi bits at the ends got replaced with a short piece of pipe the right size i got from a motor factor, keep the rubber lengths short to reduce expansion under boost.

Hope this helps!

So I've been having a thick couple of days, and have just sussed out this EGR mallarky and why I had 4 flexi piece's of hose!

Tnx to battenburg's post

As all the hose's are a bit soft I've ordered new hose's and an EGR blanking kit, now off to dig out the WD40 for the manifold plate screws.... but will fitting a rubber intercooler top hose have any noticeable effect compared to the metal one currently fitted?

ltll increase turbo lag, cos the pips expand. I would be surprised if you didn't notice the difference.

You bought an EGR blanbking kit? How much did you pay? Mine was free... :)

I thought it would give more turbo lag:(, but at least I'll have her running without her wheezing like she's on a 60 a day! I'll then get a metal one made up.

Got overtaken by a bloody smart car the other day:eek: so embarrassing. Egr kit cost £8 but i saved a bit on postage so in effect it cost the same as the cheaper ones. A local Landy parts firm wanted £25 for 1 hose!!!
