Transfer box output flange seal confusion

Hello all its stopped raining so i am back on the landy. (1985 110 lt77 and 300tdi)
The oil has been leaking on the gravel from the hand brake drum all winter so i had a look today.. when i stripped it down, have i got too many seals in this?
As ever am not sure what the parts on my vehicle are (disco or defender) as it is a true triggers broom.
I thought just one rubber seal went in here but i appear to have two although i haven't removed the inner black one just the outer brown one (see pics)
Any advice and part numbers would be greatly received as there are various kits but all appear to have just the one seal (or is the black rubber not a removable seal?)
Thought i would ask before i start trying to pull more out!!

Looks like someone has used the same trick as I did on my front out put that would not stop leaking. [ Fit a new seal and it would last a couple of months, no movement and flange seal land fine ] I just could not figure it. Came up with the idea of fitting two seals given the space in the housing. Without the mud shield I was able to fit two seals and it's been good for about four years now.

so it is a bodge of sorts then! Certainly hasn't worked in this case as it leaks...but thanks for confirming that the black one is a seal and can be removed..now to find out which one to buy.

The black one is the original type. You don't know long they have been there, may have lasted a long time like that.
Make sure seal land where the seal rib contacts is smooth, if in doubt get a new flange.
Lots of poor quality stuff out there, get some Corteco seals.

I did the same on a disco tfer box front flange quite a few years ago now.
