Hi all,

New here and looking for some advice please. I have a 52 plate manual Td5 (traction control no diff lock). Recently i fitted a recon gearbox from Ashcroft transmissions and ever since i have had a major leak, i put it into a dealer and they told me the sandwich plate was leaking, i believe they were just looking to take £1100 out of me, as i check the levels in both boxes once a week (i do approx 2500 miles a week) and the transfer box is consistently low with the gearbox on the button. Today with the help of a local garage friend we removed the transfer box, replaced the oil seal and made up and fitted a paper gasket with blue hylomar, then thoroughly cleaned everthing drove 20 miles home with no aircon on to prevent "washing" pulled up on the drive and ..... you guessed it still leaking at the same alarming rate (dripping on the drive immediatly) on closer inspection i believe the oil to be coming from the top and bottom bolts securing the transfer box to the gearbox. we suspected these before and have so far tried sillicone, hylomar, ptfe tape and finally today lock tight to no avail. Has anyone had experience of this issue and know of a cure/ the correct sealant to use? Please Help its driving me mad, i tow a trailer and deliver cars for a living and everthing is getting covered in EP90!!!!!!
Cheers
Mark.
