tansmission stoped working at the lights in town today. had to get it towed away....landrover have it at the mo. and there telling me it the, transmission moter. well i think thats what hes tellin me... they don't have the part in spain anyhow, so gave me the part number...STC1917 my spanish is crap so i'm trying to fined what this part is...can you help???

Any messages on the dash?
Unlikely to be the Hi/Lo range shift motor as you were not changing from Hi to Lo, could be the Transfer Box ECU though, it might just have shifted you into transfer neutral, however I would expect a message on the dash.
It would help if you told us what car it is and manual or auto.
If it's an early L322 Td6, it's probably the auto box:eek:
 
sorry... its a 1998 p38 dse2.5 bmw.
had no message till i chaned the battery the next morning, then it said tansmission fault..along with the usual fault messages;/...it makes a grindin sound when put in to park...if that helps;/
