Series 3 Time to change to the canvas

Job done . Took about an hour to hacksaw the set screw. After that rapid progress. A combination of the new fixing kit and the original tilt frame worked a treat. Curious change in the character. Lovely smell of canvas inside and looks pretty mean and period like cos it's an older washed out tilt. Had a turn out with it and it's great . I'll try to upload photos tomorrow. So glad it's done after last nights deluge but back to dry n sunny.

You wont regret it, best decision I ever made, and I completely agree something about them makes it look older and more period correct.

Yeah. I like it. Total deluge last night and during today. No leaks and totally dry inside. Getting to like the smell of canvas.

Yesterday 26C here so we went completely pop. Amazing to drive around like that. Very happy, feel I've got a new vehicle.

Certainly adds character to the vehicle and makes journeys a bit more fun which is what it's all about.
I informed my insurance company when I made the change. They made a note but said as its classed as a utility vehicle with them there is no cost change. I just wanted to cover my @rse in case it got nicked and they felt that security had been compromised by removing a lockable hard top.

Thanks for that. The insurance point gets to a fundamental aspect of period landys. They are originally designed to be able to be open top, canvas, hard top, truck cab. Do they actually recognise this feature?

Well my insurers seem to acknowledge this but I have a slight mis-trust of most. My registration document has mine down as an estate vehicle. However, as part of my renewal at the end of last year I supplied them with updated photos of the vehicle showing the canvas configuration (the need new photos each year for the agreed value insurance). Always pays to be as transparent as possible with insurers in my opinion and not to take anything for granted.
