Evening all :)

Decided it's time to build myself a decent landrover, so I went and bought a 110 2.5 na van backed mot failure and and crashed 200tdi discovery!

started stripping it down, saved myself time draining the fluids from diffs as they where dry

Removed the front wings, and used a commercial steam cleaner to clean up my engine and gearbox

Decided that the chassis is to far gone to weld, found a guy on ebay selling galvanised chassis for £1250

Now come the questions :D

I have got a 200tdi to go in, planned to use a 300 tdi exhaust/turbo and inlet manifold to avoid the issue of needing a special exhaust, will this work?

Should I fit engine,gb and transfer box before I refit the body?

Any pit falls I need to be aware of?

Pipework, what do I need to use not use to make it work without to much hassle?

I have used the search function, I have read and read and read, and am more confused than before I started reading the forums! :pound: lmfao

Just looking for facts :) and fun poking!

I used a telehandler and lifted through the windows and under the rear arches.

Don't forget to unplug the electrics or you have to climb in while it is suspended in mid air!

I can't help with the conversion I am afraid.

Some big questions all at once there.

My engine and gearbox is already installed on the chassis waiting for the body to go on around it.

1250 seems cheap for a 110 chassis

There are loads of potential pitfalls involved in doing a rebuild :D It's half the fun.

Like James I can't help with the engine swap, but plenty lads on here have done them.

Thanks did you use straps? Bulkhead attached or not?

The bulkhead was still attached, leave the doors on as it stops twisting.

I used a strap through the doors, and then a strap and some blocks of wood through the rear arches to stop the sides bending.

£1250 is correct price from Richards ( I should know, just bought one for them to fit in October! ) :biggrin1:

I got quoted 1650 from Richards Inc vat and delivery!

No matter have just ordered a polybush set and new shocks :D

Anyone fitted HD standard lift springs?
Better shocks etc?

I carry a lot of weight regularly and tow quite often (trying some fuel pump mods on my other one ;-)

starting to get exited! new chassis should be arriving in the next 3 days! (although have now seen the cummins conversions and am wondering about doing that instead) lol

next time.... theres always next time!

Thanks for that :)

i forgot to leave the doors on..... :clap2: and ended up mangling the hinges getting them off  looks like ill be separating the bulkhead and rear tub!

at least i can do me seat boxes :D

its quite amazing just how much money you can spend on a landrover.......

Gearbox is zf s5 42 that came with the engine. So basically daf 45 gearbox.
Here is a pic of gearbox and transfer box mated together.

Im lucky enough to have seen this in the flesh
its crazy, the turbo is huge
I was very impressed, that Morris boy has some serious skills :clap2:

Well I did write a nice post and then it got lost as I forgot to log back in

So got my discovery engine gearbox and transfer box out in one lump ;-)

Dropped axles off :)

Question for all you guys/gals

What's the difference between 3 bolt and 4 bolt steering boxes?

And is there a difference between disco power steering pump and my old 2.5na power steering pump?

I'm sorry Aaron but the 6bt is possibly to much for Me to fit right now, I need this landy on the road, so I'm gonna use the old 110 chassis as a mock up for the 6bt! :-D

Where did you get the conversion plate and drive made up mate?

That does sound and look amazing........ Good work mate, and I agree go mobile, start being self employed! You won't regret it. The quality of your work from what I can see speaks for itself.
