So I decided it was about time I started cleaning my disco up as its a bit of a mess!! I'm booked in for breaks to be sorted next week and I'm actually putting an exhaust on it next weekend too! The neighbours will hopefully stop hating on me now:rolleyes:

I resprayed my front bumper a couple days ago and was pleasantly surprised with the result and planned to do my back bumper and wing mirrors today but it wont stop raining so I fecked that off and did a few other bits instead...
I wired in some better speakers and actually hooked up the rear ones, as You can see here...BTW I'm aware this process is like teaching someone to breath but for anyone that hasn't done it before, heres how easy it is!!!

You'll need one of these which is a size ten I think...and a screw driver!
Start by removing the interior grab rail to expose the speaker fully...

Remove the screws holding the speaker in place...

At this point it should just fall away, pull the cables clips out of the pins on the back of the unit...

Get your new speaker Mines a 4" FLI 90watt, nice and cheap but still better then factory standard...Remove the front mesh from the surround so you can access the screw holes:rolleyes:
Like so...
The next bit is bascically removal of the old speaker in reverse with the new, attaches in exactly the same way and will only fit one way so you cant feck it up!

Screw in place remembering to use the front surround...

At which point you can then replace the front grill locating at the bottom first then clicking in place...

Boom!! Speakers in!!
Now just put the grab rail back on by the bolts located here...

and here...

and you are all done:D You might be able to see in the pictures that the speaker is upside down, I am aware of this but the leads attached to the back do not fit the right way up due to plastic casings inside the door panel...Either way it makes no difference to the sound and you cant tell unless you look closely through the mesh anyhow...

I also took the rear interior panel off of the back door and replaced with a 5bar aluminium panel which is a vast improvement aesthetically speaking and it actually allows for a little more clearance space in the loading space as there is no speaker! See...!

and one last thing...I removed this god awful hazard trip from the back window, which was a pain in the arse and took me the best part of two hours to do properly but it looks much better for it!!

Which brings me to my last point, I now have all the original stuff I took off cluttering up my in laws garage so if anyone wants any of it let me know in the next couple days or Im chucking it! I have the two original landrover front speakers which work fine and are boxed ready to go, in the FLI box though lol...

All the back interior panel including the speakers and its casing...As far as I can tell the casings are fine and in goodish nick, the amp is fine and just need wiring up, the speakers are fecked but can be replaced anyways you can see what I have in the next couple pictures if anyone is interested otherwise its going in the bin...Check it and let me know:D

Thanks for viewing guys and hopefully tomorrow I can spray the back bumper and start preparing and priming the bodywork to be sprayed matt black, starting wih the raised interior on the bonnet to see how well it comes out first:D

Let me know if anyone wants any of the original stuff I took off:bolt:

Fair play on doing a how to,but why did you take the door handle off?
I did try taking the grill off the old one but the handle was in the way so I just took it off...others might be able to do it without taking it off (I'm assuming you're one of them;)
Any excuse to take it apart and put it back together, you know!;)

Your spot on there. On my 3rd disco and never had to take the handles off to replace the speakers:)
