Afternoon People,

Throttle position sensor change! is any diagnostics needed after changing sensor 2.5 Diesel 2001 Auto ? and would this sensor possibly cause high revs before changing up through the gears. Friend has turned up with Eas issues + above problems

Hope someone can help please ? I don't do B & B

No diagnostics needed and no don't think it will be causing high revs changing up. More likely a sticking valve block problem in the gearbox, causing the clutches not to come in quickly enough.

Forget the throttle position sensor, one of the few reliable bits, over reving on shifts will be the auto box valve block as Wammers said, or the clutches. You can try an oil and filter change plus the addition of Lucas Transmission fix which worked on mine for about 18 months. Otherwise think exchange re-con box which is where I am now.

Cause is the valve block, then the clutches shed as they slip. Making the situation worse. One should drop out and other take over seamlessly. If a shuttle valve is sticking one drops out but other hesitates, that is what causes the flair. :):)

Thanks For your help Datatek I have done the filter and fluid change + the Lucas auto conditioner magic potion (fingers crossed) and relayed the bad news  went for a long test drive and a little improvement sent him home to Mayo 3 hour trip so hopefully he will get home to lick his wounds. Eas fault was a leak simple fix.

Took about 500 miles for the Lucas to really take effect on mine.
