Am I correct that the tempory closure of the rigeway out from Streatly Berkshire is now lifted as it is April or do I have the dates wrong?

I'm pretty sure that the winter closure to vehicles is from Oct 31st to April 1st. I was around Marlborough last week and I'm struggling to remember the details on the 'except for access signs'.

Never Eat Shreadded Wheat. D'oh - I meant East!!!

I try to avoid because of the high number of pedestrians/riders who use it. Any use is under minute scrutiny and there are plenty of other places to go which are less boring to drive!!

Lots round here in Lambourn towards Marlborough. Salisbury Plain/Basingstoke. Further afield Exmoor, Wales, Peak District and Lake District are all faves - photos a testament!

I have tried the ridgeway near badbury castle a while back but signs up saying no access.
Is that all the time? I really want to try the ridgeway for a longer trek.
Any one interested in going together would be cool!

The section around Barbury Castle and Hackpen Hill is closed - and the line has been re-routed onto tarmac. Smeathes Ridge towards Ogbourne is also closed. The seasonal TRO sections on other sections opens up after 31st April each year. Again, I would say don't bother with the Ridgeway - too busy and boring.

There are some very good alternative lanes around there without using the Ridgeway such as Ogbourne Maizey to Barbury and around Aldbourne. Just get a map, the roads are well posted and enjoy.

We should get a group together to explore. I am based in wiltshire so would be good to see whats about!

There is loads of stuff about in Wiltshire apart from the Ridgeway, you could easily drive for the whole weekend and hardly touch any tarmac and not drive the same lanes. If you go further down onto the Plain there is some good muddy sections in the winter.

Very scenic this time of year but very dry, depends what you want I suppose.
