P38A Tensioner pulley 2.5 dse

Hi all
I have a slight problem in that I changed my tensioner mounting bracket and all was well belts went on fine looked to be running true but now there is a squealing coming from the pulley area have put wd40 on to find it but noise just stays the same could I have over tightened the Belt that goes on the front of crankshaft you know the one that slackens by 10 mm Allen key ?. does anybody have any idea what it could be please

Aircon belt should be set to 6 lb ft torque on allen key new belt 4 lb ft torque on allen key old belt. Then tighten 13 mm bolt. You could try re adjusting it. Did you not check idlers/tensioner bearings for roughness before refitting belts?

Hi thanks wammers I tested them for play and to make sure they turned smoothly and couldn't feel or see any movement or roughness but I'll certainly redo the tensioner as you've described it because it was a new belt so it could be overtight I'll let you know when I've retested it thanks again

If it is too loose the belt might squeel a little.

I've always found it's the tight one's that squeel, then again I'm not talking belts.
