TD6 Gearbox?

Surely not another L322 TD6 gearbox?

Its's just taken me 30mins to get home that should have been a 5 minute drive after Trans Failsafe Prog appeared on dash? I think this is the limp home mode, only allows 3rd/4th gear, not fun! Just before this happened I was in stop start traffic and It did not engage from neutral to drive, turned engine off, turned back on everything seemed fine?

Trans Failsafe Prog message has now disappeared but when I try to reverse it moves forward! Any advice? I understand the fault codes will need to be read by computer but does this sound like the £4000 bill others on here have to pay for a new box?

Before anyone asks battery is good!

Hopefully just a sensor or faulty alternator can give this message.

Get it plugged in somewhere you trust

torque converter lock up breaks and destroys box-we have had several on here.
If it is that and the box has metal shards in it-there is a kevlar torque converter upgrade available.

Yes I hope it is just a sensor or something but would this cause the car to drive when in reverse?

Do you think it's worth calling the AA so they can run dianostics, would the equipment they use be capable of diagnosing the problem?

If it's the torque converter and box that's destroyed I would take to independent, so If AA could diagnose I would save some time and money at the stealers getting it diagnosed?
