Hi everyone
My friend has a td5 that he bought recently, and has a intermittant fault. It starts first time everytime, drives brilliantly, can go for any length of journey without any problems, then stop, switch off and when u return, the Landie won't start. It doesn't do this overtime. It can go 3 weeks without any problems.
Theres a red light on the dash, which apparently signifies that there is no signal from the remote to the edu.
My friend owns a small garage, so he knows what he's doing, but is stumped with this one. He's been advised by the dealership that a new ECU and re program is £1500. He's also plugged in the diagnostic tool and no fault code show.
I was talking to him in the pub last nite and spoke highly of this site and offered to ask the oracle!!
My friend lost his sight 4 years ago, hence he's not doing this bit himself.
The lady has about 80,000 on the clock and has been maintained by landdrover. Its a 2001 defender in great condition.
Any ideas???
