TD5 transfer box upgrade

hi
my mate has had is Defender TD5 fitted with JE stage 2 upgrade, ie chip and intercooler, now driving on the road it goes like the wind however i think it needs a disco transfer box, would a T box from a 300tdi fit to a TD5

OR if not a 300tdi Tbox which one would help for road driving

I'm half sure that it won't fit due to the mounts. Wat u need to do is look at something like ashcroft transmissions where u could swap in your old one for the right one with the upped ratio's (basically the discos cogs in the right case).

cheap if u fancy cracking the box urself... ask them about a straight exchange i'm sure they'll do it much cheaper than 650 if you are fitting/removing the box urself and giving them and exchange unit. plus u have a fully rebuilt transfer box out of the deal.

the 300 tdi and td5 gearbox mounts line up the same (ive just put a td5 engine and gearbox on a 300 tdi chassis) so in that aspect it will work . also they both have the R380 gearbox so in theory it should work if the splines on the transfers are the same
