Spent the day taking the sump off the D2 to check the oil pump bolt and sort a sump gasket leak.
The D2 is a 1998 with low mileage but because I had no knowledge of whether the pump bolt had been lock threaded I needed to check.
When I eventually got at it, it was still tight but I removed it anyway, degreased it and the hole with brake cleaner, and then lock threaded the thing back in.
Took the opportunity to change the oil filters, the air filter and the fuel filter and its back together and running sweet.
Is there an average mileage that the oil pump bolt tends to fail after?
Mine had no signs of previous thread lock so i'm guessing it has never been checked or changed but it is only 70k on the clock. I couldn't say it was not tight when I removed it so is 70k too low for the issue to manifest itself?
