TD5 ignition Barrel

I'm struggling to get the ignition key to turn in the barrel, it's not been good since i got the car but now i'm fearing getting stuck somewhere when it finally gives up the ghost. Has anyone had any experience with this?? is it likely to be a dealer only part?? am i going to have to have two keys now??

Sure have, i think it's well defunkt. Just had a price of £180 plus vat!!!! key needs to be programmed for immobiliser. i think i will be getting one off fleebay and cope with having a seperate key for the door locks!

Take off the lock by knocking round the special 'irremovable' bolts with a chisel. Then (or better, first) find a decent locksmith who can fix it, the problem is quite simple so I am told. Our guy fixes them for R150 which is ten squid.

I have that problem too on my td5, it seized completely yesterday and has since been freed up with wd40, tho i'm wondering how long its gonna hold out...
