Td5 Defender Steering

The steering on my newly purchased defender is not existant for about 20mm of turn in either direction. Ive been told its a simple case of tightening up the nut on the bottom of the power steering arm. Is this correct or a load of cack??

Best thing to do put it axle stands on chassis and give all steering parts a good push and pull see if it's anything obvious, sounds like ball joints

You should expect a bit of play anyway but check all steering components for play. Easy way to get rid of play but not the best is to adjust the screw on top of the steering box (not sure on differences for td5s) but this is more of a last resort kind of thing. If the play is really not that bad I would just ignore it
