The crank pulley has gone on my disco td5 and I was wondering if there was anyone in my local area Scarbough who wouldn't mind lending me the tools to do this in exchange for some beer tokens?
I obviously need a substantial breaker bar and socket to fit bolt, and a torque wrench that will torque the bolt to 460nm.
Thanks,Andy.

I think you will also need a tool or a piece of metal with some studs on to stop the pulley from turning.

It's quite a specialist tool so I took mine to a garage.

The pulley was the expensive part really. The cost to get it fitted vs the hassle doing it my self made it worth it to farm it out.

how much did it cost to get done ?

Done mine on TD5 fender that was quite straight forward, took about half a day and i am not a mechanic. rad out and front panel off yes you need a huge torque wrench ( i fortunately borrowed one ) but made up a bar out of angle iron to stop the pulley turning and a mate too hang on the end, I managed to get a used pulley off an LZ member. Shop around they vary massively on price.

OEM pulley is around £300 i think. I got one for closer to £200 from paddocks.

I honestly don't remember the garage bill but it wasn't that much as they nay spent a few ours on it.

I tried to get it in my local LR independent garage but hes not well,so ive had a go myself.
Just that crank bolt to undo.
Will a 1/2 24" breaker bar with a bit of pole be up to it?? lol
Anyone had success themselves with one?
My plan is to make a piece of bar to go under the chassis,to lock the pulley so I can do this myself.

That will undo the bolt, make sure you drill some holes in the bar and bolt it to the pulley if it flys off with that amount of force on it it will #### something up.As said before make sure you put a new bolt in and toque it correctly.
Think i still have the bar i made up if you need to see it.

yes please a pic would be good.
yeah i plan to make it similar to the guide on disco2.co.uk,however i want mine to sit under the chassis so i can do it solo.
i presume its land rover only for the bolt??
thanks for your help and advice

will have a look for it later. have not seen that guide. bolt is not cheap but stick with LR part, IIRC it was about £8.

Made mine out of some thin angle had in the workshop but was not man enough so bolted a bit of reinforcing to strengthen it. the holes to bolt on to pulley were 9 or 9 1/2 cm centres and the cut out was about 5cm.
