A few months ago I replaced the Aux belt tensioner on my Defender TD5 with a cheap ebay one, it was fine for a few days but then the belt (which was also new) started screeching, I replaced the belt with a new dayco belt but it still screeched, the tensioner looked to be not putting enough spring tension on the belt, I could press it against the belt another inch or so every time it came to rest.
I got fed up with the screeching so bit the bullet and bought a genuine LandRover tensioner from local LR Dealership, (stratstone LandRover Stockton on Tees) which after getting a discount was the same price as genuine ones online. (Although 3 times as much as the non genuine ebay ones)
(I did look for a second hand original tensioner but could not find one at the time)
After fitting the genuine tensioner and the dayco belt "bliss" nice and silent again.
