Hi there,

Hope you are all well.

Changed the brakes and discs some time ago and they were not performing well. Sqealing and looked like over heating. They were crap ones off the internet so changed them with a more superior make called Delphi which are meant to be original standard. They have performed really well up until now without sqealing. Only issued now intermitantly they make a really bad noise when braking. Like when they are worn! Had the brakes checked when it went in for a services as I suspected and sticky caliper. Garage said they were fine but still seem to look like they are evidence of overheating? Or can it be grit stuck in there? Slider pins were cleaned, but do they need greasing up?

Your help will be much appreciated!

Regards
Nick

hi there,

thanks. does not sound like ABS as dont get the throbbing in the brake pedal. Its intermitant so very unusual. If its the calipers/ slider pins should they have grease or no grease?

If the discs over heat, could this cause the symptoms I am experiences? The discs are Delphi which are original quality/ or have been told.

Anyone experience anything similar?

Cheers

could just be pads moving slightly in the calipers to a different position, then they catch the lip which can sound like worn pads grinding on the disk, should be easy to see with a wheel off.

hi there,

if pad is moving, is it the brass type shim that hold the pad in place the issue? Do you know if the slider pins should be greased?

cheers

Had a similar problem with mine , when brakes are cold no problem but when warm the o/s caliper was slightly binding enough to get the disc feeling warm but not too hot to touch. Although piston could be pushed back fairly easily, suspected that the seals had gone hard so put new seals in the caliper and had no more trouble.

Thanks for help. Just need the time to look. I'm also getting a slight knock/click noise. Weird! When in traffic and coasting at 5 mph then either brake, or slight acceleration hear this noise. Can it be pad4?.
