I've had my TD4 for two months now and I am gobsmacked by the economy. LR reckon on 36-37mpg as an average which, based on previous cars, means I should get about 32mpg as I normally get about 85% of what the manufacturer reckons. My TD4 is consistently doing about 39mpg or about 500 miles per tank. This is great!!

I'm (obviously!) not complaining but wondered if this is normal or whether my TD4 has been tweaked in some way by a previous owner? My driving is a mix of town and urban dual carriageways and I don't drive particularly slowly or anything.

Cheers

is that for a manual ?

mines a td4 auto and i get about 30 round town and 34 on a run, use it in auto all the time, don't use sport or manual mode (can't be arsed)

That seems about the same as mine, on a long motorway run she's amazing visited mi sisters in Bognor about 250mile run mostly motorway cruised around 60-65 refuelled when we landed average mpg 43.9 couldn't believe it so checked it on the way back 42.4. Mines a 2001 TD4 manual ESX wi 17" wheels(dunt know if bigger wheels makes a difference) but she's go 94k on her back, old uns just git sweeter !!
