Td4 engine problems

has anyone else got any ideas?

i have a misfire.
on start up i have white smoke.
small coolant leak needs topping up every few weeks.
i've done a leak back test by removing connections from top of injectors and turn ignition on no leak back from injectors, diconnected each injector in turn 3 injectors engine noise change 1 injector still made a change just not as much as a other 3?
ive unplugged maf sensor didnt seem to make any diffrence at all??
ive
blanked egr
changed crankcase breather for bmw one
air filter
fuel filter
oil change
cleaned all air ducts.

i'm looking at putting it into a dealer, i cant fix it !!
 
Well it's sounding like at least an injector but loss of coolant and white smoke could beca leaking head gasket - you could do with a compression test - get it hooked up to a diagnostic - it will text this. If you are sure all hoses etc are good and everything is setup as it should be then I would go that route.
 
What a nightmare dannyuk29,ive got more or less the same problems.new hoses,new crankcase breather,changed filters and oil,egr bypass,new map sensor,and, ive got three different maf sensors,and still not solved the problem,runs ok when the maf is unplugged.
debating whether to change the fuel rail sensor and wiring harness next,or boost solenoid.

im taking it to a guy sunday who is going to get some fault codews for..

GOOD Look mate,ive just gone off the posts on this forum,been to a couple of garages,but i seem to know more than them,dont realy want to try main dealers,going off this forum,i'd have spent thousands by now,and still been in the same possition.
i'll stick to heads or tails.!!!!! :yawn:
 
Have a similar fault with mine, idles rough now and again but not that often and if i turn off then on its fine again.

But it has a hesitation on light throttle all the time which is annoying, fine on full throttle. Fuel pump? Diconnected MAF and it made no difference? EGR disconnected and vaccum blocked. Need to check hoses, but wondered if anyone else had this?

FIXED!!!!

Its an injector !!!
swapped two around and the problem folllowed it ..

gave it a clean untill i get a new one and it stopped misfiring so fingers crossed might not need new one aswell...

the coolant leak is coming from the egr cooler so will by pass that friday

Found a split vacuum hose!!

FIXED!!!!

Its an injector !!!
swapped two around and the problem folllowed it ..

gave it a clean untill i get a new one and it stopped misfiring so fingers crossed might not need new one aswell...

the coolant leak is coming from the egr cooler so will by pass that friday

well done lads....easyish cheapish fixes in the end just a pita to locate!
 
well done danny,had mine running ok for a couple of days by refitting the air filter cover,making sure i got the rear lip inside the casing,bit of a sod to do tho,but back to the hesitation under 2000 revs again,so unplugged the maf yet again.its doing my head in now.:confused:
