howdy,
i have had my gaylander for just over a year now and for some stupid reason i want another one, i am thinking of a td4 auto spending around 8k on it. i have looked a discos and a defender and a couple of other 4x4's and nothing felt like the FL to drive. and the other thing is insurence is quite cheep as well. am i jumping out of the pan and straight in to the fire any advice welcome thanks

No your not.My wife has a TD4 Auto ES and i am jealous as hell, it is silky smooth tons of torque very responsive and a bloomin doddle to drive on/off road. I have a Disco 300TDi which is very good but around town commuting etc the TD4 wins hands down and insurance is very cheap less than £260 fully comp!! Go for it!

dunt boffer wiff chippin ,fit a rover ron gismo, will go like er rockit. . . .tween 36-38 on motorway on cruise bout 70mph. . . .:)

MPG: around town she is getting between 27-30mpg iirc
on a run around 38 or so.

For insurance try Sureterm Direct, they specialise in Landies we are both with them, policy covers off roading and mods also we have a no voluntary excess policy, between us for my disco and her TD4 total is £575

not trying to seem like a dumb sole but what is the roverron box thing and will it increse my insurence

hi, i bought a TD4 auto about 3 months ago. Had a petrol sports car before so it was quite differenet.

I have got used to it now and it's totally fantastic. Town driving is a doddle and its very smooth. It has a handy sport mode which holds the gears so you get more umph. You can also use the semi manual "steptronic" but to be honest it's best left in auto or sport.

I get about 26mpg round town - and thats hilly sheffield. On a motorway run 38 ish - unless the fiance drives where she managed to get about 26mpg back from the north - lord knows at what speed I was asleep after a few beers!

yeah i'm 21, insurance sucks if ya want a nice car :( although going from my 1.8 to the 2.0TD4 the insurance goes down!! :D still over a grand though :(

i'm 36 and I have to pay nearly £700 for my td4 as its a commercial and it's insured for business use, and is a second vehicle on the policy. Gutting as I only pay £400 for the wifes zafira which is as rapid as f**k.

Them's the breaks I guess

went out this afternoon to a sealer this afternoon for my to at my new car and to p/x my hippo they only offerd me 1500 for my 2000 1.8 with 72 on the clock.
at this point i thought he was taking the **** but looking in the glases guide crappy 1.8s are worth nothing any more and the same and diesel is worth 2 grand on top of that dam how i made a massive mistake moral of the story should not have been so tight and got a TD4 in the first place
