Tailgate release issue on a Discovery 2 Yr 2000

Hi, I'm new to this Landyzone, so not sure how this posting will go!!....Q. is it feasible to get the tailgate inner panel unclipped from a Discovery 2, whilst the tailgate is shut tight? as I have no way of getting to the mechanisms for the door release, (which has failed of course, hence the tailgate shut) I'm thinking not, but someone may give me a glimmer of hope if it is possible...Thanks in anticipation of some help here...regards Robal.
