Swivel Pin Housing. Damaged Calliper Bolt Hole.

To cut a long story short, front brake calliper bolt had to be drilled out, as result, the brake bracket on the swivel house pin got slightly damaged.

Please see pictures and and I am a desperate need of advice, please.

I wouldn't even suggest/attempt a repair on that TBH.
I am sure it could be done in a shop with the proper gear but even then they may not touch it as its brake mountings.

Buy new/secondhand.

Which side is this. I recently had a problem with one of mine but I ended up managing to repair it. However, I was sent a replacement by a kind forum member but it ended up being the wrong one. If it's the correct one I can pass on the help that was given to me and send it to you. I have even cleaned it up!

Do you know the part number? If not let us know the year and model of the vehicle.

As above, safety item so replace.

I agree with people saying replace. You have damaged that in a way that has removed the strength right where it is needed.

I have a Defender Td5, Year 2002, Chassis . This Swivel Pin Housing is the one located on the passenger side. Is it the same you have?

If not, may I ask you where I could find a second hand one. please.

This one is for the left hand side of a right hand drive vehicle. I can't really say if this is the same as yours as mine was even earlier than this. I think this one is more 300tdi, so not sure how this compares with yours.

Might be worth removing the chassis number from your post too - I ain't up on security but I wouldn't post anything that may be used by the wrong people.

If you take the hub and disc off, which should be easy now the caliper is off, then hopefully you can check the part numbers. If you can sort that then hopefully we can see if they are the same.

Not sure where you would get one. I was looking on ebay to be honest. You can get some that are just this part but many are full swivel/hub assemblies.

Check against your VIN range, also this 1 shows non ABS need to go to the other 1 if you have for that.
This will give you numbers then you can search and may come up with alternative numbers,
and suppliers

Hi

I have not managed to disassemble it in order to check its part number.

However, I have obtained the part number elsewhere. It is FTC5297.

I am not sure how that number relates to what I have. I don't want to go sending you the wrong one.

Only had complete brake fail once coming down a v'steep hill in the centre of Edinburgh...was a rather quick MK1 Cortina pedal hit the floor at a T-junction so turned left up hill and yanked handbrake my mate and I sat for a couple of mins silent we were bloody lucky we hit a gap in the traffic and no cars parked round corner...nursed it the 5 mins home and found pipe over rear axle had worn a hole rubbing on casing so cut pipe stuck a bit of rubber hose on and two jubilee clips and a quick bleed good to go...

I have just looked at the "Trailer fitters" video on the swivel housing overhaul (part 2), and it looks like the ABS sensor goes through the top pin. I don't have ABS on mine, plus I have the older Railko bush type housing, so I am not sure if the housing is different if ABS is fitted.
