I know that this thread has been covered ad nauseum but times change, products change and opinions change too so I was just wondering what the current trend is. Here goes:

My 90's suspension is now 10 years old and the shocks are getting tired. It is currently fitted with Range Rover springs (memory escapes me as to which types of springs were fitted - i believe it was yellow and red stripes on the front and blue stripes on the rear - with 2 inch spacers on the rear), Monroe gas shock absorbers with lowered front turrets and rear mounts. I really like the ride but would like to do away with the spacers so I thought I'd just change the whole lot.

Until a few years ago, in my corner of the globe, the most popular choice was Bearmcach +50mm blue springs and pro comp shock absorbers). Lately, Terrafirma seems to have taken over, probably the reason behind it being that the main suppliers stock this brand. I have heard lots of negative press about Terrafirma, hence am reluctant to use it.

Any suggestions? The 90 is used mainly on the roads (albeit some are rather rough roads), with the occasional green lane and is rarely loaded (unless you can call 100kg of diving gear a load). I'm not interested in Old Man Emu, Bilstein or other over the top super-duper heavy duty brands.

OME are in my view and from previous experience the best but I switched to Terrafirma shocks & springs on another truck. I was disappointed with the terrafirma as the casing rusted very quickly although performance was OK.

I did a suspension upgrade on Disco 2 and used Bearmach and Britpart Cellular Dynamic shocks and they were excellent.

I have now got Bearmach +2 springs on my Defender with another set of Cellulars and again am delighted with the results.

My experience of Britpart springs is not good, they sagged considerably after a short time and the supplier exchanged them for bearmach ones which I have no problem with. I have recently changed the shocks to +5 terrafirma from pro comp. both sets of shocks were good and the ride is still fine.

Consensus seems it's something they're actually good at.
So I've fitted standard height britpart springs and britpart super gaz shocks on the current build.
