After selling my TD6 last Summer I still had a Land Rover itch and even though I sold the van and converted a Mk 2 Disco for work I knew I would have to have another Range Rover. Not wanting another TD6 because the engine is horrible I looked at a couple of high mileage TDV8s but decided on reflection they were a disaster waiting to happen with turbo failure and accompanying engine destruction well documented. So what to have?.. finally found a 4.2 supercharged vogue Se in a little garage in Nottingham, full LR history 2007 facelift interior, everything working except venture cam and a snip at £10k. (100k miles) Left a deposit and got some insurance quotes which were ok, but my mates thought I was mad to even consider such a car as my previous Rangie had been a bit of a money pit. But hey what could go wrong it's a Land Rover.
Bought the car and took it straight round to my mates garage who declared it good to go, just needing brake pads on the front. With new shiny pads fitted it was down to Devon for the week.
What a Fabulous machine, so smooth, quiet and powerful and with a V8 soundtrack you just can't resist winding the window down to hear at every opportunity. After a little over 1000 miles the car has been faultless and returned an average of 22mpg.

With a view to keeping the car in great order can anyone advise me as to what I should do regarding the gearbox oil. In my TD6 I had complete gearbox failure and would like to avoid this at all possible. Should I get the gearbox oil changed? Currently gearbox changes are super smooth though it does occasionally drop into 1st a little sooner than you would expect when approaching a junction, and once or twice I've thought the kickdown from 6th a little harsh when giving it full throttle.

So if a Supercharged Rangie is on your bucket list, go for it, it will give you the drive of your life.

I am currently tempted with the 5.0 if I can find a way of avoiding paying £3600 per year company car tax for a car I can't use privately.
What does the service schedule say from the main dealer regarding the transmission fluid ?
