We had a bit of a downpour out here in the desert last week, got almost 2 inches in an hour or so and things aren't used to that much water so all the roads flooded. My missus was out at some friends that night and I got a little phone call on her mobile phone saying she went through a bit of water and the car was making a noise.

The BIT of water was about three foot deep (thank heavens for the snorkel) and we hadn't got to the bit about deep water crossing in her 4X4 training (not much deep water out here!) so all she remembered was MOMENTUM and hit the water very hard. She was beside herself by the time she got home as there was a real grinding noise. As it turned out, the front plastic water flaps behind the headlights had been pushed back and up onto the tyre and rubbed all the way home. She thought she had killed the beasty, I just laughed and put them back into place, but next day we then went through the deep water training session of slow and steady building up a bow wave etc.... Funniest part was the panic phone call:D:D:D

I suppose that's what I get for letting her drive the Disco.
As a tip for anyone with a bumper replacement bullbar, a screw through the bar into these plastic guards would prevent them from being forced back onto the tyres by the water. Although perhaps not everytime as she told me in the training the next day that she hit the water at about 45 kph!!!!
