Hi

My landrover has a strange problem that I and others can't seem to fathom out.

When manovering slowly ie pulling out of parking spake, setting off out the drive in the morning, the brake pedal will sometime travel further than normal. One dab and they are as they should be.

My landy is a total rebuild with new disks, pads, calipers, lines, master cylinder and servo. The brakes have been both pressure bled and bled the old fasioned way. The wheel bearing are all spot on. The trre presures and tracking have been checked.

The brakes are very good and powerful so its got me beat as to why it does this.

Any idea or other things I should check please.

(For those that saw the nipple thread the calipers are now correctly fitted)

Check the vacumn hose and plug in the servo or swop for a new one to eliminate

Cheers Steve

What about braking in a straight line or cornering ? Fine ? peddle just dips when you are doing low speed, lock to lock ???
Straight line and corners fine, just low speed.

Others on another forum are wondering if it could the MS. Its new but I suspect it from Britparts and they are renound for being faulty?

If it was the M.S I'm sure it would do it all the time !! No !

Faulty vacuem pump, hole in one of the vac hoses, servo which makes fault only show at low revs.

Faulty/damaged/kinked brake hose that's stretching/weakened on lock to lock !!

Cheers Jason for your values input

No idea re MS

All aroquip hoses

I will have a look at the servo, however if anything if the servo was faulty would the pedal be harder not softer?

Your welcome matey!

If it was a servo, vacuem problem you would have to "jump" on the peddle harder to get the brakes to work.

Can't understand why it only does it at low speed and not all the time. Not a leak that's only on full lock ??

If it was a faulty master cylinder it would do it all the time.

I know it's not the case but this is a common fault with worn or badly adjusted rear drum brakes, first brake pump pushes brake shoes onto drum, second pump harder as the first was just taking up the slack !!

I would double check the wheel bearings. Sounds like it stems from the fluid/flow in the system.

From your OP do you mean it only does it after standing for a bit? on start up etc?

I would try a new OEM MS. Air could be bypassing the rubber seal in the 1st instance. worth a punt.

I assume its not losing any fluid?

Wheels bearing have been tripple checked and are fine. Its not loosing fluid

Other seem to also think it may be the MS. Where is the best place to buy a decent MS
