Evenin!
Splashed out (coz Paddocks dint ave the cheapo one and i just spent ages getting my steering going properly again) on a HD 3 piece steering guard from paddocks.
Got the towing eye bolts off no probs and the N/S flank of the guard goes on (with a bit of flack from the steering damper) using the spare hole in the chassis behind the towing eye one, but the O/S one has the steering bracket attached in it. Problem is the holes in the back of the guard are 10mm but the bolt holding the bracket in place is 12mm so don't go through the hole in the back of the guard for me to put the nut back on. The bolts they supplied aren't long enough to go through the bracket, the chassis and the guard (and anyway the holes in the bracket are 12 mm not 10 so would rattle about).
I also noticed that if i line the cut-out bit of the guard up with the front bumper, the pre-drilled holes in the guard are completely in the wrong place (although the photo on paddocks website also shows this but with the guard fitted anyway)
Have i got a strange motor or is the guard designed badly? I don't want to go drilling coz it's galvie. Anyone else had similar probs and anyone overcome them without having to pester paddocks again (am getting fed up with them!) or anyone got any good ideas?
Ta muchly
