Bought myself a steering guard the weekend, got the two bumper bolts out no problem, then it was the steering box bolt....

I got the nut off the end, put a soclet on the other end to unscrew the bolt out and the head snaps off the bolt :(

Any ideas on getting it out? I've tried with a very big hammer and no movement what so ever

Any help much appreciated

Heat! Lots and lots of heat.

If it's the bolt I'm thinking of you should be able to get the heat on the part the bolt goes through easy enough.

Had the same problem getting a few bolts out of my disco. Heated the part the bolt/stud goes through until it glows then hammer it out. Usually pops out quite quickly this way. :)

I had a similar issue removing a steering guard from my mates Disco in order to replace the steering box.

I drilled a 6mm hole about 1cm deep then opened it out to a countersink with a 10mm and then using my hammer drill/electric chisel with the pointed tool I impacted it out.

Used that trick on several phucked bolts and studs over the years :D
