Steering Drop Arm - is this ok?

Just took off the steering box this morning in order to repaint the front chassis. The steering drop arm has some corrosion on the face of the top collar, similar to this pic:

Will the corrossion on this face cause any issues or is the collar just there to create a retaining lip for the rubber gaiter?

the "ball" joint runs on the inner face.

that corrosion wouldnt bother me.

dont replace with a borg and beck ball joint - they pattern ****e.

Yes, provided there is enough lip left to stop the rubber boot coming off then it should be OK. They have a rough, pitted finish to begin with. The ball itself and the parts it bears against are all replaceable, and it's a good idea to renew them periodically anyway.
