Could anyone offer advice on the Defender steering box please. We have a 1991 200tdi and the steering is a bit vague. There's a 6 bolt unit fitted and i've been told that a 4 bolt type is better. My question is, will a 4 bolt type fit without modifications apart from the drop arm which we assume will be different.

Dunno about 4 bolt being better or not, but there is a difference with the pipe work for starters.
Here's some pics of the 6 bolt (not the best but it'll give ye an idea)...

both lots of piccies taken of me 1991 200tdi defenders.

My 6 bolt is nackered, so ah've got another one comin' monday or tuesday. Thought about using the 4 bolt but the seals are gone on it and that's when ah noticed the pipe work being diffrunt. Don't think there's any difference in the drop arms.
Hope that helps a bit ;) :D

Thanks for that, very usefull clear pics. Will have a closer look at ours now to compare.
