Reading another thread got me thinking.

I use my 90 about once or twice a fortnight, other than that it just sits in the garage.

Before starting I always check fluids etc before setting off, but would it be worth my while pulling the stop solenoid off and spinning the engine over a few times to a) build oil pressure and b) get some oil to the top of the engine before I start it properly.

Or do it not need to worry and just start it straight off from being stood for a fortnight?

Cheers

Ed

cant see the point, starting it up and letting it tick over isnt going to give any more wear than turning it over on the starter (except saving the battery/starter) a couple of weeks isnt that long, if the oils in good nick, it likely will still be in the vital places anyway.

nice, cheers tim, i havent ever thought about it, only thing i have done when i have stood an engine for a year or more is put a small bit of new oil down the sparkplug/injector holes to lube the bores.

thanks

Mine's regularly left for a month or so at a time, never bothered, just started and ran it .. ;) Mind, it's serviced regularly, with regular oil and filter changes etc. When I sorn'd it for a year all I did was check oil levels, start it and let it run a minute or so without load before running light load for a mile or two, all is fine .. :)
