Hi Folks. I live in north staffordshire, close to derbyshire border. I have a new disco 4 and am looking at making use of it on a few easy green lanes. The wife is not too keen on me potentially scratching her new motor and so I am looking for some easy lanes to start with.

Any suggestions? No problem in me driving to shropshire, wales, derbyshire etc.

Happy also to join any group that have a planned trip set up in the near future.

So far I have done the land rover experience at peckforton castle in cheshire (i a disco 4) and joined GLASS. No green lane experience yet....

I am a sensible driver and would not want to do anything which would add fuel to the anti green lane lobby.

The M6 is a nice non scratchy lane (well most times)

In all seriousness though, try the greenlaning section and look out for days out in your local area. there is a trip not far from you with easy lanes going out on the 6th of november. Its in the "laning in solihull" thread or something similar.

Would be good to see what this new electric disco of yours can do.

oh and :welcome2:

I used to use my Series 3 for moderate greenlaning up in Yorkshire and I remember that the Magazine Landrover World did a 'pull out' on green lanes in the area and subsequently in other parts of UK & Ireland. Perhaps keep an eye on the magazine racks. I notice that you are a member of GLASS so you are halfway there.

Thanks folks, much appreciated. Re M6, I did it for 3 hours a day for 8 years and spotted lots of people and cars that werem more than scratched.

Re the other comments, thanks very much. I tried the same model around peckfortan castle in Cheshire and pretty much giggled my way around the course. As the instructor said, it's arm chair off roading. I am keen to see what it will do in the real world. Seems a real shame to just drive it on road when it has such a thoroughbred back ground. Thanks for the answers, I am going to contact the local glass rep for some ideas.

Cheers
John
