After searching online and joining the forum I couldn't find anyone who could tell me exactly where it is located or how to remove it without taking out the centre console and dash. This is a simple guide how to do this job easily.

1. The module / ECU is on top of the transmission tunnel in front of the heater matrix and behind the lower part of the centre console trim.

2. From the passenger footwell remove the air ducting pipe coming from the blower motor that goes under the glove box.

3. Get a decent Stanley knife with a new/sharp blade and cut the carpet just above the blue line close to the blower motor in the photo I have included.

4. Pull the carpet away to expose the module / ECU. In this photo I have already removed it.

5. From the drivers foot well pull the carpet back past the clutch pedal. There will be another small peice of carpet on top of the module which you need to pull away so that you can access it from this side too. Photo below is from drivers side.

6. There are 3 star headed bolts, which are E10 sockets, ideally use a 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet and remove them. One of the bolts accessed from the drivers side will need an 8mm ring spanner to undo as there is not enough room for the socket and ratchet.

7. There is a electrical connector with a orange coloured bar that needs to be pushed toward the drivers side of the vehicle which releases it and then can be disconnected.

8. Once you have removed and replaced the module /ECU and put it all back together the cut in the carpet will not be seen.
9. Hey presto a nightmare job has been made very quick and easy.

No one really wants to take apart the
dash and spend hours doing it when it can be done in no more than half an hour
