Speedo issues!

So the cable at the back of my speedo has snapped (helpfully). The connector that goes into the back of the speedo has snapped off the main cable.

Does this require a whole new cable or can it be reattached?

Driving to fast?

600mils at 55miles per hour. By the end of the the speedo had stopped working and the indicator relay had blown. Land Rover being needy as always.

Is it really worth trying to reattach the cable with prices as above?
